The meeting will commence with an evening social and registration on Monday 13 July. The formal sessions will be held over the following three days (14-16 July) and will include two plenary sessions, numerous symposia and workshops, and sessions for oral and poster presentations. Evening times are available for informal round-tables or discussions as are times on Monday 13 July and Friday 17 July. A variety of local excursions are planned for Friday.
The plenary sessions, to be held on Tuesday 14 July and Thursday 16 July, will be directly related to the conference theme, Biodiversity Conservation - Myths and Realities.
The general call for papers will be published in the November newsletter as well as on the web site and the electronic newsgroup consbio. Depending on the number of symposia, the number of sessions for spoken papers may have to be limited, but all poster presentations can be accommodated.
The deadline for submission of abstracts for papers and posters will be 31 March 1998 (the deadline for symposium proposals has already passed). Authors will be notified regarding acceptance of their abstracts by 15 April. The early and regular registration deadlines will be 30 April and 31 May, respectively.
Information on field trips, travel and accommodations, and a list of sources of information on Australian natural history, environmental politics, and so forth will be published in the November newsletter. The final call for papers and registration information will be published in the February 1998 newsletter. Full program details will appear in the May 1998 newsletter.
