Welcoming Reception. Friday 6 June, 6:00 - 7:45 P.M. University Centre. This reception, sponsored by Dr. David Strong, President of the University of Victoria, is included in the registration fee. All other social events are individually ticketed and must be purchased in advance.
Sooke Salmon BBQ. Saturday 7 June, 6:30 P.M. Buses depart from MacLaurin parking lot E. This event is hosted by the Sooke Community Association in the rural community of Sooke, located west of Victoria. The salmon are caught in local waters and barbecued over outdoor pits. The fare is simple, flavourful, and hearty and the no-host bar features inexpensive beverages. Local loggers stage an exciting pre-dinner show that includes audience participation. Following dinner, get out your dancing boots and kick up your heels to the sounds of a local country band. Dress is casual; bring along a jacket in case the evening is cool. This event is limited to adults only; it is not suitable for children. All ticket holders are required to travel on the bus. Buses return to the Housing Office anywhere up to midnight. This is an optional ticket item available only by advance purchase until 15 May. $30CDN + GST (transportation included).
SCB Awards Dinner and Plenary Session. Monday 9 June, 6:00 P.M. An informal dinner reception with a no-host bar will be held 6:00 - 7:45 P.M. The menu will be varied, some cooking will be done on site, and waiters will circulate with trays of hors d'oeuvres. The SCB Awards ceremony commences at 8:00 P.M., followed by a plenary address by Dr. Jeremy Jackson. This optional ticket item is for purchase in advance until Saturday 7 June. $30CDN + GST.
The Rhythm and Blues of Conservation. Monday 9 June, 9:30 P.M. SUB. After the Awards presentations, dance your night away with a popular live band and cash bar at the on-campus Vertigo night club.
